If you’re anything like me, there are shelves in your house filled with old DVD cases. You might have inherited them from a relative or friend- whatever the case may be, they’re taking up valuable space and can’t stay where they are! Luckily for us, there is plenty of ways to recycle old DVD cases. Here are 15 creative ideas on what to do with old DVD Cases:

Store your jewelry in an old DVD case

You can store your jewelry in an old DVD case. Place what you want to wear that day on top of the case and then put it wherever you keep your clothes. This will make it easy to find what you want.

You can also use this for other things like small trinkets, stickers, or whatever else you have lying around the house that is small enough to fit in there.

Use it to store remote controls for your TV or stereo system

You can use it to store remote controls for your TV or stereo system. Just cut out what you need and tape the piece to the back of each remote.

You can use it to store small objects like earrings, loose change, paperclips, etc. Just glue them in place on one side so they won’t fall through the holes on the other side. You could also just put post-its there instead if you don’t want that kind of permanency.

Use it as a pencil holder on your desk

To make a beautiful pencil holder, use an old DVD case to hold pens and pencils. The first step is to remove all discs from inside the case by gently prying them out with a flat head screwdriver or knife (be extremely careful not to cut yourself). You can then decorate your new pencil holder however you see fit! Use paint markers, sharpies, stencils even stickers that are normally used for scrapbooking projects.

Turn an empty DVD case into a mini-bookcase

What to do with Old DVD Cases

For making a mini-bookcase, what you need are three empty DVD cases. Just glue all of them together and then use paint to decorate it how you want. This is a great idea for someone who loves reading but has no space in their bookcase.

Also, there’s another way to turn an old case into a mini-bookcase without gluing or painting – use nails or screws instead! Make sure they won’t rip the pages, though.

You can also add a smallholder on one side of the case to put pens and pencils in. To create this, what you’ll need is an old DVD case and some paint too.

First, drill holes onto the top part of your TV box, then attach it with nails or screws into place. Then use a sharp utility knife to cut away any protruding metal pieces that might be jagged and hurt someone if they touched them. Finally, paint your mini bookcase however you want.

Fill with trinkets and give away as gifts at weddings, showers, etc

Fill with trinkets and gifts to a friend or family member for their birthday – what better way to start the New Year than by giving a gift of your favorite movies.

Use them as storage containers – keep all those loose cables in one place and organize small office supplies like pens and pencils. Or use it instead of a tissue box on the bedside table.

Paint the cases in different colors, then create amazing wall art that everyone will envy you about. You can also spray paint any design you want on top of them if you feel creative enough.

Make a CD case to store your DVDs

What to do with Old DVD Cases

One of the best ways to recycle old DVD cases is by turning them into a CD case. With the rise of digital music, most people have stopped buying CDs, but many still own DVDs that can be stored in what was once their casing! This guide will show you how to turn an old DVD case into a strong and sturdy CD or storage box that looks great with its original design front-and-center.

People are always looking for creative ways to store CDs because they don’t want bulky boxes cluttering up their living rooms. However, if you’re feeling crafty, it’s simple enough o make your carrying case out of an old DVD cover using glue & cardboard. If not, there are plenty of places online where you can buy one, or you can always buy a cheap plastic CD case at the dollar store for less than $.

If no one in your family uses CDs anymore, what about turning them into an organizer to hold all of your loose change? It’s perfect since it will sit on top of any dresser and help keep things organized. No more searching through couch cushions for that extra nickel.

Use them as storage for other small items

Use them as storage for other small items. This is great to organize loose change, hair ties, or what have you. Insert a square of cork (by cutting out the middle) to prevent things from spilling out when opening and closing the case. The cases can also be used for storing earrings.

Create a photo album with the DVD cases

For making a photo album, you can use the paper sleeve of a DVD case, but what if you have an old plastic one?

You can cut out your favorite pictures in small pieces and glue them to the inserts. You don’t even need to buy special photo album pages – create some yourself with recycled materials.

Use them to organize office supplies

Use the empty cases as a way of organizing your desk and what you have stored! This is especially helpful for things like paper clips, thumbtacks, or push pins that would otherwise be scattered everywhere in drawers or jars. The compact size makes this easy; stack some on top of each other and slide into an old case with ease (and without having to touch those dirty items!). They also make great boxes for small products such as nails, screws, and bolts, so they don’t roll around all over the place. Keep one at home by your workbench, too — use it as a sorting box for spare change, washers, and nuts; everything stays organized when building something.

Use as a first aid kit box

Use old DVD cases as a first aid kit box. If you have an old DVD case laying around, don’t throw it away as there are many ways to recycle old DVD cases and make use of them in your home or office space. You can store band-aids, gauze pads, and other small items such as thumbtacks, staples, etc., in the old DVD case by keeping pieces of cotton inside any corner of the old DVD case. This is handy, especially if you work at an office where everyone has their desks, which means people will not see what others put on their desk surfaces but still want something for emergencies.

Use as a table stand

When you use a DVD case as a table stand, the disk drive holds up your tablet or phone. The top of the DVD case can hold your device in landscape mode while it’s charging. When not in use, you can use this little piece of tech for decoration. You’ll need to remove any clips that were used to open and close the original product packaging. Then place on some sturdy books upside down to lift it about an inch off its surface, so there isn’t too much weight pressing down over time. Use adhesive pads or rubber bands underneath if necessary.

Using as a photo wall

Another use for old DVD cases is to use them as photo walls. This can be done in several ways, depending on your creativity and what you want the result to look like.

  • A good idea would be to cover large blank walls with small photos of memories or something else personal that means a lot to you! For example, using family pictures inside each case adds interest and meaning while decorating your room at the same time!
  • Another use could also include hanging around pictures into empty CD sleeves then placing these holders onto shelves alongside other books/items that are similar in size (such as DVDs). Again this can add interest to your shelves and can be a great use of old DVD cases!
  • Organize family photos using the inside cover to label each sleeve with important information, such as a date or event. This will allow for easy organization when creating an album later on down the line.
  • It could also mean that you attach small index cards onto old CD holders (inside covers). On these small cards, you can write names/dates/event information which would make gathering all photos at once easier if it is ever needed in future years.

The choice about what use you find most effective depends on how much time and effort are willing to put into this project while having fun doing so too! Remember, no matter what use chosen, there is always room.

Turning it into a chess set

If you want to play something a little bit more sophisticated, use blocks of colored Velcro and transform the inside of your plastic sleeve into the grid for chess. Now make doodles designs on bits of felt that can give you a fully functioning travel chess set. If that’s too demanding, flip over the pieces and sub in checkers instead.

Use as a rainfall showerhead

You don’t have to worry if you recently had showerhead problems; there’s a way for us all. Grab an old CD or DVD case, make little holes in it using your favorite tool (scissors work great), and then use that adhesive to attach the perforated case onto your now-broken head! The stronger, the better with this one — just let gravity do its job as water rushes through those tiny openings into whatever is below. Don’t forget the finishing touches by taping up any loose edges so no sharp bits are poking out of the place where they shouldn’t be waiting on someone else falling prey next time.

Turning into coloring case

What to do with Old DVD Cases

Have you ever thought of putting your old CD and DVD cases to good use? They can be great coloring cases for the kids. By separating their crayons into different colors, they won’t lose them as fast! To protect those tiny fingers from broken crayon pieces, block up each color inside with scotch tape or paper.

You are welcome to separate the color crayons so that none will fall off when put in it too!

If you turn the case upside down, it can be used as a coloring book. When finished playing with them, they also make great storage cases.

Final Thought

What to do with old DVD cases? With a little creativity and some spare time, you could turn them into anything from remote control holders to pencil cups on your desk and even mini-bookcases that store trinkets or small items like paperclips. You could also use the empty cases as organizers for office supplies–just cut out holes in the side of each case to fit whatever it is you need inside!
